Treasured Islands: These Kitchen Spaces Continue to Be Popular in Remodels
Kitchen remodels are chugging along, and islands remain the focal point, according to the 2020 Houzz Kitchen Trends Study.
The median amount spent on a major kitchen remodel completed in mid-2019 was $35,000—up 17 percent over the previous year’s $30,000 figure. Minor remodels, meanwhile, held steady at $8,000. And in these major remodels, nearly two-thirds (61 percent) of homeowners opted for a kitchen island, often choosing either a new one (33 percent) or an upgrade (22 percent).
